Following the success of Abarth's Coupé Simca 1300 GT, the French company, through Mr. Hruska, asked Abarth to develop a new engine unit that would allow it to achieve equal success in the higher GT class, where famous manufacturers like Porsche and Alfa Romeo competed.

As it was impossible to increase the engine power beyond the current 1450 cc, Mr Abarth asked Mr Fochi to study a new 1600 cc engine that could be increased to 2000 cc without major changes and investments.

A draft of the programme, complete with technical data, timing and costs, was presented to Mr Abarth and Mr Scagliarini at the end of April 1962 and was accepted. The plan was to build three engines and assemble them in time to present the new "Coupé 1600 GT" at the Geneva motor show in March 1963.

This volume, the seventh title in Gianfranco Bossù's successful series, is dedicated to these power engines created by the genius of Carlo Abarth and his team.

A technical "radiography" that wants to be a reminder of how, in the post-war years, people worked with few means at their disposal but with a lot of passion, enthusiasm, and intelligence.

Abarth Simca 1600 - Fiat Abarth 0T 1600 has 354 pages and hundreds of diagrams and technical illustrations.
