This technical radiography of the Abarth 2000cc type 236 engine brings to a close the history of the 4-cylinder "Bialbero" engines that began in 1957 with the 750cc engine designed by Ing. G. Colombo and derived from the Fiat 600.

It continued until 1972, giving Mr Abarth and all his collaborators the pleasure of working with passion and hard on each of the many projects born in fifteen years.

The 2000 cc engine was born in 1963 as a necessity since the FIA modified the ‘J’ annex by increasing the displacement of the 1600 class to 2000 cc; the existing 1600 Abarth Simca engine was increased in bore and stroke, and on the dyno the prototype delivered 197.13 hp at 7400 rpm/1.

The evolution of the engine with structural changes (head with 4 valves per cylinder, bore increased to 92 mm) and indirect mechanical injection allowed a power output of 283 hp at 9400 rpm.

Among the many successes of this engine mounted on the Scorpione cars were the World Record on the 500 metres covered in 12″855/1000 in the E class (2000cc) on 27 October 1966 and the 1972 European Sport Prototype Championship won with the Abarth Osella SE021 car.

This volume, the eighth title in Gianfranco Bossù's successful series, is dedicated to these power engines created by the genius of Carlo Abarth and his team.

A technical "radiography" that wants to be a reminder of how, in the post-war years, people worked with few means at their disposal but with a lot of passion, enthusiasm, and intelligence.

Abarth Simca 2000 Fiat Abarth 2000 - Radiografia Motopropulsore has 577 pages and hundreds of diagrams and technical illustrations.
