Early September 1970. July 1979. Two dates bookending a period in which 14 stories unfold, 14 stories set in the world of Seventies motor racing.
In a Formula 1 category in particular, in which life was often hanging by a thread, in which the drivers left home on the Thursday without knowing whether they would be coming back on the Sunday evening and in which their children would ask their mothers when their fathers would die, as they knew that all the fathers who raced cars died sooner or later. There is little about racing, much about drivers and their women.
What Luca Dal Monte has chosen to describe in the 14 stories about BELLI e DANNATI (The BEAUTIFUL and DAMNED) are in fact above all the sentiments, the thoughts, the dreams, the grudges, the fears and the nightmares of the men and women fatally attracted to a world they knew to be cruel.
A world these men loved and their women hated without, however, being able to keep away.
