Once again, the protagonists are men and women who marked the golden age of Formula 1: drivers, manufacturers, mechanics, journalists, wives and girlfriends - characters at the centre of a world that gravitated around them, but also more or less conscious victims of a reality to which they were fatally attracted despite the looming shadow of death.
