The Standard Motor Company was one of the largest automotive companies in Coventry and employed some 11,000 people at the height of its history. Based in its huge Canley plant in Coventry, it has produced cars for sixty years. The purchase of the Triumph brand in 1945 added a second mark to the team and all the post-war triumphs were designed, developed and built in the Standard M C factories.
This book covers the formative years of the company from 1903 to 1912 and describes the vintage models produced between 1913 and 1930, as well as the post-vintage and flying models of 1931-1939. The author deals with the acquisition of Triumph and the post-war Triumphs produced between 1945 and 1961, as well as the acquisition of Leyland and the disappearance of the company.
