Chiti 100, a volume published by ASI Service to celebrate Carlo Chiti on the 100th anniversary of his birth. The large-format book tells the story of the human and sporting life of the Tuscan technician.
Absolute protagonist with Alfa Romeo at the beginning of his long career, and then with Scuderia Ferrari, ATS, Autodelta, again with Alfa for a very long season and then with Motori Moderni, Minardi, Subaru and Montecarlo Automobile.
The author, Danilo Castellarin, vividly brings this character to life by retracing his life and that of the people who lived by his side, like his children Olga and Arturo, and those who worked with him, including drivers with marked personalities, who spoke to fans and journalists without repeating poems learnt by heart to please sponsors.
Chiti too, as a good Tuscan, spoke frankly and the book reports his blunt and polemical statements, taken from the chronicles of the time. A loose tongue, but a big heart: Chiti was the only one to build a fireproof tank because he couldn't bear to see drivers die.
In 1961 Carlo Chiti left his prestigious position as Ferrari's technical director in solidarity with the "Rebel Angels", the managers of the Prancing Horse who were demanding more respect from Drake.
