The author of the book is Klaus Rabe, known as the founder of Historischer Kraftverkehr. Klaus Rabe had free access to the extensive Iveco Magirus archive for the research. He was also supported by the experienced Magirus employees: Ernst Müller, Georg Bilger, Georg Junginger, Gerhard Wagner, Hermann Bender, Max Schmidberger, Professor Adolf Wünsche, Rolf Ambrosius, Rudolf Reissig, Wolfgang Hornung.
Excerpt from the foreword of the book, by Wolfgang Keller, the then Chairman of the Board. In 1989, Magirus turned 125. The company began with fire-fighting equipment and vehicles long before the first motor vehicles made life more mobile.
Trucks and buses were added, and Magirus transformed itself from a regional specialist into one of the main pillars of Iveco, the first European in the commercial vehicle industry.
Only in the context of Iveco, with reference to the Fiat Group behind it and, of course, with a look at the special features of the city and the region from which the company emerged and with which it is still firmly rooted, can a company portrait be drawn that does justice both to the occasion of this book and to the complexity of the subject matter.
Der Zukunft ein Stück voraus - 125 Jahre Magirus counts 280 pages and many interesting archive photos.
