From this consideration, the Ducati 2001 yearbook - the fourth in the series for Ducati friends - has been dedicated to the history of the legendary "POMPONE", the four-valve engine which made its debut in the 750 i.e. version at the 1986 Bol d'or and which, in the 998 Testastretta adaptation, reached the tenth title of World Superbike Champion with Troy Bayliss.
The story of the Ducati four-valve engine's evolution mixes the story of technological progress and achievements with the passions, intrigues and individualism that have accompanied its birth and continued success, thus determining its character and personality.
The text is accompanied by many illustrations, which mix manual skill, personal traits and technical drawing with the cold precision of the computer, until the transfiguration of the mechanical parts taken from their specific function in pure graphic sign, fascinating and beautiful.
