At the time of publication of this fine book, Ferrari has been the most important and famous protagonist of modern motor racing for 30 years.

Moreover, in all motor racing, it has been the most successful. It is also the most prestigious manufacturer of Grand Touring cars since the post-war period.

The most famous Ferrari is undoubtedly the 250 GT. From 1955 to 1964, it was the production car that universally made the Ferrari name known to the general public.

Jess G. Pourret, long known in Ferrari circles and owner of several 250 GT racing cars, has compiled the detailed history of 250 GTs around the world from 1955 to 1965 in this unique book. As the result of 10 years of research, it consists of three parts:

  • the first part contains the complete technical description - chassis, mechanics, bodywork - year by year (from 1955 to 1964) of these cars, from the Berlinette Tour de France with long and short chassis to the Berlinette GTO, including the various prototypes, studies and modifications
  • the second part, a chronological description of all the international races from 1955 to 1965 in which the 250 GT Competition took part. Year by year, each race includes: the finishing order of all 250 GTs, the classification of all drivers, the type of car and its chassis number (a detail unique until now in the historical account of a race)
  • in the third part, the list by chassis number from 1955 to 1964 of every 250 GT built. The list includes, for each car, the date of delivery, country of destination, year of production, the name of the first and later owners, any special technical features, the car's history and its racing record.

Even the last part of this book is an 'unpublished first' that required an extensive research effort by the author. All this makes each car unique and will fascinate passionate readers who are becoming increasingly demanding in terms of accuracy, richness of detail, authenticity, completeness of the information provided, and the quality and quantity of details.
