Ferrari Le granturismo, written by Antoine Prunet, and published in 1980, is a must-read for any Ferrari enthusiast who wants to learn more about the history of the most beautiful road cars produced by the House of Maranello.
Or, even better said by Count Giovanni Lurani in the preface to the book, those Ferrari cars that were more "road-going" than others. i.e. those that were more accessible to customers with more normal, less racing aspirations.
The 446 pages of the book describe models that have made Ferrari's history, starting with the 125 Sport and, through the 1950s and 1960s, up to the 512 BB of 1976, the last car covered.
In the middle, absolute masterpieces, small series, one-offs, dressed by great names of Italian coachbuilding: Vignale, Ghia, Boano and Pinin Farina. The main features of many models are given, for others even the chassis numbers, the first, and last known owner.
The photographic outfit is stunning, with hundreds of colour and b/w images that fully capture the beauty of these exceptional performance cars born for the road but which have received so much from the experience acquired in racing, a sort of special "dowry".
