This collection of texts was conceived as a tribute and a guide to support a "farewell tour" on a Fiat 418 bus in Modena, and was later enlarged thanks to the contribution of many enthusiasts who liked the idea.
The entire work was revised, updated and completed with new contributions, in order to pay homage again to the 418 in 2021, the year of celebration of the fiftieth anniversary since the first models were introduced on the market.
The almost total diffusion on the entire national territory, the quantity of vehicles produced, and the multiple versions make it difficult to build a complete picture of the FIAT 418 bus.
In order to understand what this model represented, this publication first tries to analyse and reconstruct all the background, starting from the conception, passing through the technique, to arrive at the various interpretations of the Italian and foreign coachbuilders, and then focusing on the local realities experienced first-hand by the authors of the contributions.
