Brescia 1954, arrival of the twenty-first Mille Miglia. There is a red car, unmistakeable, leading ahead of the race far away. It is the Lancia D24 of Alberto Ascari, the most famous and loved driver, two times world champion in Formula 1.
Ascari returns to face the 'Great Race' after leaving the Scuderia Ferrari, for him a real second family. An incredible race this Mille Miglia, which Alberto does not like, marked from the start by a staggering number of mishaps.
He found himself at the head when a banal breakdown left him without an accelerator just before Florence. But he does not give up. With the help of a young mechanic, he gets back on the road.
And when he finally triumphs, his victory will be unexpected, dedicated to the recently dead Tazio Nuvolari, and legendary because he will set the speed record in the final stretch.
The unmistakeable voice of Giorgio Terruzzi returns us all the emotions and adrenaline of this romantic and memorable adventure, just like its protagonist, a driver who made motor racing history.
The prelude to a tragic and mysterious finale marked by a fate curiously similar to that of his father, Antonio.
