Franco Picco made his motocross debut in the first half of the 1970s, where he won two tricolour titles. Arriving to desert racing quite casually, he soon became one of the most appreciated and loved protagonists of the Paris-Dakar.
In his long career in rally-raids, driving motorbikes, cars, trucks and quads, he has worn the colours of the most prestigious official teams, sometimes also as a private driver.
Moved by an insatiable passion for competition and adventure, he has raced the Dakar in the sands of Africa, South America and Saudi Arabia, becoming an incomparable legend in the world of two-wheelers.
In 2015 he was awarded by the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme with the honour of Cross-Country Rally Legend; in 2022 CONI conferred him the Medaglia d'Oro con Meriti Eccezionali.
Franco Picco - Storie straordinarie dalle mie Dakar tells the story of an extraordinary man, a tenacious, passionate driver, capable of suffering sometimes beyond his limits. His racing career in the sands of the desert is the longest of all. He experienced twenty-nine editions of the Dakar, and raced on three continents.
