A curious title to tell a fascinating story whose protagonists are the two authors and a magnificent car, not just any car, but the first in a limited and now extremely precious series. We are talking about the Ferrari 250 GTO, which Larry Perkins owned and raced several times.

Full Circle: A Hands-On Affair with the First Ferrari 250 GTO is the story of the car, but also of Larry Perkins and his quest, decades after he sold the car, to learn its fate.

Perkins, a geology graduate from Louisiana State University, envisaged a career in the oil industry. Instead, while selling soap, he found a job as a rocket scientist on the Apollo space mission.

Meanwhile, he developed a growing passion for racing, shared with other friends, which led him to buy a used Ferrari from racer/dealer Bob Grossman in January 1964.

The car, bearing serial number 3223GT, was the first Ferrari 250 GTO. Under the banner of BARF, the Brevard Auto Racing Fraternity, Perkins would race the Ferrari in the inaugural Daytona Continental 2000K, finishing 11th overall. Two years later, he finished 19th overall in the first Daytona 24 Hours.

You'll find the rest of the story in this book, from the sale of the car to the reunion, many years later, on the awards ramp at Pebble Beach on the GTO's 50th anniversary.
