After the monographs dedicated to Enzo Osella, Mauro Nesti, Giorgio Lucchini and Luigi Moreschi, Gianni Tomazzoni dedicates another editorial effort to driver Giorgio Francia.

Born in Bologna but naturalized in Milan, after his first attempts at karting in the mid-1960s, took the wheel of a single-seater, specifically the Dagrada Formula 850.

He raced in this car for a few seasons and then moved on to Formula Italia, winning the championship in 1972. In the following two years he drove in Formula 3 and here too he won a championship.

He then moved on to an Osella Formula 2 car, but it was with the Turin manufacturer's sports cars that Giorgio achieved his greatest satisfaction, winning the 2-litre world championship for two years.

Thanks to these results he was approached by Autodelta, Alfa Romeo's historic racing department, which offered him the opportunity to become an official test driver. It was 1977 and from that day on, all the racing cars produced for almost thirty years by the Milanese company would be driven by the fast driver from Emilia.

Francia's contribution to the development of the 155 GTA remains memorable, as does the version designed for the DTM with which Alfa Romeo dominated the championship on German soil in 1993.

Limited edition of 500 copies, numbered and signed by the author and Giorgio Francia.
