L'Iso-Avventura - The Iso-Adventure, an exhibition dedicated to the iconic Iso Rivolta brand - which bears witness to Italian genius in the history of the automobile and car design - held at MAUTO in Turin from 28.03.2023 to 24.09.2023. The present volume, curated by Luca Baraggia, is the catalogue of this successful exhibition.
An exhibition to rediscover the extraordinary industrial story of Iso Rivolta, a brand often forgotten today that attests Italian genius in the history of the automobile and car design, recently relaunched by the founder's granddaughter. In the Iso-world, every name begins with "Iso".
To say Isomoto, Isoscooter, Isocarro, Isociclo, Isoneve, the small Isetta and the granturismo Iso-Rivolta is like plunging into this Iso-Adventure. Founded by Renzo Rivolta and later led by his son Piero, Iso Rivolta was able to understand and anticipate tastes and feelings of its time, following - and even more often anticipating - dreams and needs of an Italy that was heading towards the economic miracle after the Second World War, culminating in the Roaring Sixties and impacting the difficult Seventies.
Iso Rivolta's production has always been varied and of the highest constructive, technical and performance quality: from scooters to light motorbikes powered by the iconic "split-cylinder engine" like the Isoscooter 125 and Isomoto 125 (with subsequent derivations and increasingly more sporty models) to move a country undergoing economic reconstruction, to the innovative Iso Isetta bubble-car to "motorise Italians".
Also highly successful were the commercial vehicles and the 150 F "Diva" scooter: proposals that allowed Iso Rivolta to make the jump to the production of fast, luxurious, comfortable and reliable granturismo, like the GT 300/340 - the "coupé that you drive with your hat on" - the high-performance Grifo GL, the fast S4/Fidia saloon and the innovative Lele, all characterised by the unique steel sheet chassis electrically welded to the bodywork (monocoque) and the powerful V8 Chevrolet and Ford engines.
These are authentic masterpieces of technique and design, designed by personalities such as Ermenegildo Preti, Pierluigi Raggi, Giotto Bizzarrini, Giorgetto Giugiaro, Marcello Gandini and Ercole Spada.
