Sandro Munari, known by nickname "Drago" of Cavarzere, was the first Italian to win the FIA Cup for Drivers, in 1977, with a Lancia Stratos.
His competitive activity in high-level racing began in 1965 with his entry into the national rally championship, and continued with his first national title victories in 1967 and 1969.
In international competition, his first victory in the European championship was in 1973, with some participation in road races, culminating in the 1972 Targa Florio victory at the wheel of a Ferrari with a teammate who was another famous Italian champion of that time, Arturo Merzario.
However, his name remains inextricably linked to a company, Lancia, and to a competition, the Monte Carlo Rally. The former was the one to which he remained faithful for years, driving Flavia, Fulvia and above all Stratos that led him to win a World Title in 1977.
Munari achieved his most striking successes at the Monte Carlo Rally, winning it for the first time in 1972 and obtaining three other consecutive successes from 1975 to 1977.
In this book, written with Cesare De Agostini, Sandro Munari tells his sporting career, full of successes, meetings and interesting anecdotes.
Many evocative b/w images enrich the tale of La Coda del Drago, which, published in 1981, has long been difficult to find, becoming a cult object for many rally enthusiasts.
