Born in 1959, at the crossroads between the 1950s, still marked by the aftermath of the war, and the 1960s, when renewed prosperity encouraged exuberance, Panhard PL 17 must have been rather ambiguous.
Due to a lack of resources, the design office could not afford to build from scratch: it was satisfied to remake and refine the Dyna, but with such a skilful touch that it seemed a new model.
The redesigned bonnet and rear end gave the car a new look without upsetting the brand's traditional clientele and boosted its career for several years. The performance of the Tiger engine was also a strong point.
La Panhard PL 17 de mon père tells the entire story of the PL 17, renamed the "17" in 1963, until it went out of production in May 1965. From saloons to vans, from convertibles to executive cars to exotic South American versions, no variant is left out, not even the ‘little story’, often even more compelling.
122 pages and a wealth of photographs, with no less than 300 pictures. Text in French.
