Lancia Aurelia 1950 - 2020. Mito senza tempo. Timeless Myth - the catalogue of the exhibition held at MAUTO in Turin - celebrates the Lancia Aurelia, over its 70 years and various seductive versions: a shining symbol of Italian history, which synthesises the renewed faith in the future after the wartime tragedy and industrial rebirth, merging Turin's mechanical engineering and design genius with the best suppliers symbolising Italian quality.
From its first appearance, thanks to the fortunate creative and stylistic partnership with Battista Pinin Farina, the Lancia Aurelia imposed itself on the world's eyes as an expression of pure elegance, inspired by an ideal of polished sobriety.
On the other hand, its technological content, the result of collaboration with technical designers like Vittorio Jano and Francesco De Virgilio, made the Lancia marque synonymous of performance and sportiness, and made entire armies of passionate collectors fall in love with the Aurelia.
Such was its popularity that it also became the star of famous films like ''Il sorpasso'' with Vittorio Gassman and ''Et Dieu crèa la femme'' with Brigitte Bardot, which consecrated it as an international style icon.
