This book is the result of a chance meeting between Pierre Honegger (former senior reporter for Time magazine) and Yves Le Ray (art director and former editor of Automobiles Classiques).
Out of friendship, Pierre Honegger agreed to dive into his photographic archives to find the forgotten trace of the silver negatives made at Le Mans, during a reportage dedicated to the arrival of Steve Mc Queen and his installation on the Le Mans circuit.
The star came to shoot "Le Mans", the most legendary film of his career, under the direction of director John Sturges and with the complicity of forty-three famous drivers.
While an armada of cars is already advancing in the streets of Le Mans and makes hear again - only a few months after the 24 Hours -, the roar of the engines to announce the event that will make, in 1970, the capital of Sarthe the center of the cinematographic world.
