Nicola Romeo is a man from the south, driven by entrepreneurial ideas linked to war production, railways, mining, aeronautics and, finally, automobiles.
Behind the birth of his Alfa there are men and singular stories, politics, devalued shares and bank interests, and perhaps that slightly romantic idea of someone who believed in the potential of that company from the first moment.
Amidst personal successes and industrial ups and downs, the Neapolitan engineer stood out and became the head of a group with various activities, into which the Portello and Pomigliano d'Arco plants were incorporated.
The dream lasted a decade, just long enough to convert the company to war production due to the First World War and to see it experiencing a new rebirth full of sporting and commercial success.
At his side were men from another era: Ugo Stella, Giuseppe Merosi and Vittorio Jano, until the brand entered the state orbit under the management of Ugo Gobbato.
Alfa entered into legend with drivers such as Ascari, Campari, Sivocci, Wagner, Ferrari and Nuvolari, the flying Mantuan.
This is the story you will read between the pages of this book, that of Nicola Romeo, an entrepreneur from the south who conquered the A.L.F.A.
