Perdere Senna is the parallel journey of a Brazilian driver with an insatiable desire to emerge (Senna) and an Italian boy with a difficult life and a sealed destiny (Fiamma) in a picturesque village bar.
When Fiamma sees Senna for the first time she is only thirteen years old. His peers have left for the holidays and he works as a scullery boy in a bar, perpetually bullied by the boys and ignored by the girls. Fiamma is alone and desperate for a hero.
One Sunday, on the screen of the bar's old TV, he finally finds him: yellow-gold helmet, white overalls, behind the wheel of a beat-up Toleman. His name: Ayrton Senna da Silva. Starting from the rear, he is overtaking, under a universal downpour, all his opponents. Then, just as he is about to make his last overtaking move, the race is suspended.
It is the 1984 Monte Carlo Grand Prix. Senna's first great, epic defeat. A defeat that would have broken anyone. Not him. Not Ayrton.
