The Le Mans 24 Hours of 1997 witnessed the dramatic debut of a stunning racing car. The Porsche 911 GT1 in its first evolutionary phase led the world-famous race for 22 hours. Without warning, this magnificent premiere performance came to an abrupt end - all because a small and inexpensive component.
Porsche then built the 911 GT1 Evo to maintain a competitive edge against strong opposition in the FIA GT Championship, and also to provide customers around the world with a powerful and fascinating sports vehicle. The private customers rewarded Porsche with many international victories.
The brawny 650 hp racing sportscar exceeds far more than 300 kph. Its body resembles the classic lines of the legendary 911. This vehicle symbolises state of the art technology and is the result of dedicated work from the people at Porsche.
Photographer Ulrich Upietz enjoys the trust of these people. He is therefore able to publish photos and illustrations which normally disappear in the files marked "secret" at Porsche.
Der Erfolgstyp 911 GT1 1998, with its informative texts and unique images, is not only a documentary, but also a high quality publication for connoisseurs.
