Limited edition of 2015 copies - The first Porsche Turbo was built way back in 1971. To enable it to participate in the American CanAm racing series, Porsche developed an exhaust gas turbocharger version of the 917 race engine. This 12-cylinder, 5-litre air-cooled power unit delivered a breathtaking 1000 bhp. Only three years later the first Porsche 911 Turbo went into production. Since then, the five lower-case letters on the back of the car have electrified sports car fans throughout the world. The 911 Turbo was the byword for sheer power, potency stamped out of sheet steel. The time has come to create a monument in the form of this book to the air-cooled Porsche 911 turbo models.
The book arose from the close cooperation with the historical archive of Porsche and contains an exclusive statistics part of Norbert Franz, the internationally acknowledged Porsche expert. Therefore, accurate numbers of pieces of all Porsche 911 Turbo models ever built can be published for the first time. The book even takes a closer look at some of the most rare Porsche models ever, like the 964 Turbo Convertible, the 993 Turbo Convertible or only seventeen 911 Turbo "Package Cars" from 1994.
