The Renault Espace had the undoubted merit of having been the first to introduce the MPV concept to the Old Continent, not in the sense of a van with seven seats or more, but of a different car.
Different because it was designed and built to combine the driving sensations of a conventional saloon, to which the public had been much more accustomed hitherto, and a car with a more than generous passenger compartment that could be modulated according to needs and equipped with every comfort.
In this sense, Espace, from its debut in 1984 caused quite a sensation and curiosity, since European competitors were in practice limited to commercially derived models.
This volume, published in 1988, title No. 18 in the successful New Great Cars Series from Automobilia, traces a comprehensive historical and photographic profile of the car.
Starting with an interesting historical introduction on the MPV concept, the book illustrates the Espace in every detail, with technical data and countless pictures of the car.
At the end of this profile there is a road test.
