The Clio V6 show car had its world premiere at the 1998 Paris Motor Show to test public reaction for its eventual commercialization. The enthusiastic response exceeded all expectations.
Hundreds of customers asked to reserve it, some even paying a deposit to secure the first cars built. After sowing dreams in the hearts of many enthusiasts, the car had achieved its goal and convinced Renault to study its production: the model became reality.
From 1998, the project was under the responsibility of Renault Sport. The 3-litre, 24-valve V6 was upgraded to 285 hp for the racing version of the model, the Clio Trophy.
Development of the car was completed a year later and, in April 1999, Clio Trophy competitors lined up at the Spanish circuit of Jarama for the first round of the championship. Twenty years after the birth of the R5 Turbo, brilliant in rally and Super Production races, a new 'bomb' was born.
In Renault Sport Clio V6, beautiful photographs show the exterior, interior and various phases of assembly, highlighting its construction and quality features.
