René Arnoux - Une si belle rage de vaincre, an unofficial biography of René Arnoux, written with "historical" memoirs, and completed by testimonies from friends and family who accompanied his career from school at the Winfield of Magny-Cours until his retirement from F1.

How did the little boy from Pontcharra (Isère) move from a mechanic's overalls to that of a driver, and scale the heights of fame, with great perseverance and daily sacrifices, despite difficulties that would have discouraged quite a few?

Winner of the 72 Volant Shell, F2 champion, he debuted in F1 with Martini, before joining Renault, pioneers of the turbocharged engine, with which he obtained four victories and a series of pole positions and front row starts.

With Ferrari he won three other races, before ending his career with Ligier in a very difficult moment. Somewhat mocked and envied by his peers in the early days, he was able to keep his passion alive despite a team policy that favoured his teammates.

His disobedience at the 82 French GP, when he refused to concede victory to Prost, earned him great popularity not only in France but worldwide.

With hindsight, the four-time world champion shares his thoughts on the "affair" and absolves René. But Arnoux will remain in the annals of world motor racing above all for the terrific wheel-to-wheel duel with Gilles Villeneuve in the '79 French GP at Dijon.
