Saturday 30th April 1994, Hotel Castello. In the Suite 200 the last night of Ayrton Senna is consumed. The San Marino Grand Prix is only a few hours away and there is a dark tension in the air. In the early afternoon Roland Ratzenberger has died, the previous day Rubens Barrichello miraculously saved himself after a terrible accident in testing.

Senna is shaken, he demands everything to stop. His brother Leonardo has just played him a tape containing some compromising recordings of Adriane, his girlfriend, the only person with whom he can find some peace. Senna knows how much the family detests her, and his brother's act is just the umpteenth attempt to separate them.

It will be a night of thoughts, reflections, his whole life will be sifted through: the complex relationship with his father, his rumoured love affairs, the rivalry with other drivers (Piquet, Prost, the rising star Schumacher), the mystical afflatus that presses within him and the urgency of a turning point, 'giving back to those who have less'.

Giorgio Terruzzi, thanks to a dry and rhythmic style, with a psychoanalytical lens traces the complexity of Senna as driver and man, dissects the origin of the myth. What results is an intimate and unexpected portrait, compelling in its approach to the fatal moment: a champion in the presence of his talent, but also the profile of a world that would never be the same after 1 May 1994.

Ten years after its first publication, and 30 years after the Brazilian champion's death, the reprint of Suite 200. L'ultima notte di Ayrton Senna.
