He was tiny and delicate, that young unknown Canadian who had hastily boarded a flight to Italy. He thought it was a joke when they told him that Enzo Ferrari had summoned him to Maranello to propose him to replace Niki Lauda, the champion who had left by slamming the door.
Thus began, as a bet and almost by chance, the legend of Gilles Villeneuve, who had a poet's face and almost disappeared inside the cockpit. From his beginnings on snowmobiles to the fatal lap of Zolder.
In the background, the beautiful and damned Formula One of the late seventies and early eighties, where mechanics had not yet ceded dominance to electronics and a handful of absolute champions gave life to epic duels on circuits all over the world.
Suddenly, in the midst of them, from the endless nothingness of the Canadian snows appeared the melancholic smile of Villeneuve, fast among the fast: moving the bar of risk a little higher, to write a story that was already legendary, amidst the roar of the pistons and the beats of a heart born for asphalt.
