ITALIAN EDITION
1 June 1971: After getting off in Buenos Aires, two young Italians of 20 years old, Massimo Bertuzzi and Filippo Falzono, decide to leave Ushuaia for Alaska, 34,000 kilometres away.
Their bikes: standard Laverda 750 SF, not at all prepared for a raid of this kind and considered sports bikes at the time, and indeed they were, given the rigid frame and the generous size of the large vertical twin-cylinder engine.
Fortunately, the beautiful bikes from Breganze had a reputation for great reliability, and photographer Renato Calo followed them behind the wheel of a Fiat 125 S.
Their adventure is narrated by Laverda expert Jean-Louis Olive, author of books that are international references on the history of the brand and the saga of the 1000 V6 endurance bike.
They were poorly equipped, with, among other things, large periods of cold weather in the southern winter, obviously without GPS or mobile phone, on difficult roads, rarely paved.
Did they succeed in reaching Anchorage? After how long? And in which conditions?
The answer is in this unmissable book, which proves once again that motorbike adventure is first and foremost the result of willpower and state of mind.
