Alfa Romeo: The Legend Revived by David G Styles, published in 1989, is certainly a comprehensive book and covers not only every Alfa Romeo imaginable, from before the Second World War to the introduction of Alfa Romeo engines in F1 in 1988, but also prototypes and experimental cars.
In fact, more, because Alfa Romeo-engined aircraft have their own chapter, as do every other Alfa product, from railway locomotives to compressor rollers to kitchen cookers.
After covering all this, Styles moves on to describe key Alfa Romeo figures over the years and includes several appendices, from technical specifications and production data to lists of Alfa-powered aircraft and items on display in the Alfa Museum. There is even a reference to the ES30 Zagato coupé, destined to replace the Alfasud. . .
The book features a wealth of photographs covering all aspects of Alfa Romeo's history and some colour illustrations that also include rare Alfa advertisements.
The author screened around 10,000 photographs from the Documentation Centre, and those selected for the book make a fascinating addition to the text.
