Arancione di Genova is a story in pictures of more than 40 years of urban public transport in Genoa, from 1973 to the present day, showing vehicles in the context of a city rich in urban, but also coastal, hilly and even mountainous views.
Why start with 1973? Because it was a crucial year for public transport in Genoa: the era of trolleybuses and "celeri" lines came to end, timed fares were introduced and the ticketmaster on board the buses began to disappear, and a deep revision of the network based mainly on car lines was carried out, which in many aspects remains unchanged to this day.
From this period, moreover, a bus model began to spread through the fleet that marked the history of transport in all the cities of Italy, the FIAT 418, which within a dozen years was to be purchased in 328 examples, three sizes and five different body types.
And the FIAT 418 also brought with it orange, a new colour for urban public transport vehicles, which was in the meantime adopted as a national standard.
