The 1930s: a plunge into the past and into the fascination of the motorbike as it begins to establish itself on the international racing scene.
The whole work is a journey into the world of motorbikes. You read it, you look at it, you ride it, you imagine it.
Each page features a black and white photograph of a motorbike with its rider next to it, from the first model of 1928 to the last model of 1939: and under each photograph there is a caption of its technical details, which are only the support "ab origine" of a journey "ab aeterno" all to be made between dust and dirt, on circuits or straights.
The riders who ride these wonders of 20th century stubborn intelligence are in love with aesthetics, but those who invented motorbikes for them have worked hard to ensure a perfect marriage with practicality.
The whole cultural spirit that informs the period is thus functionality and spectacle, a step away from danger but still at a safe and measurable distance.
Engines, chassis and wheels, exhaust and set-up, aerodynamics and acceleration: everything contributes to technical perfection but has an unprecedented, subjective, thrill.
