Since Autodromo di Monza was reborn after the war in 1949, GT racing has been very important and attracted a lot of interest, drivers and peculiar cars.
After the glories of the European GT Championship in the early 1970s, GTs began a period of decline, first relegated to racing with other cars and then not allowed to take part in the main endurance races.
From the 1990s onwards, first the birth of an Italian championship, then of international series, gave an initially considerable and then unstoppable impulse to GT racing.
GTs are now one of the most followed competitions and, above all, with the largest line-ups in the entire motorsport scene, for the joy of thousands of enthusiasts.
