Il cuore a due cilindri is a book about love. The love discussed is of a particular category: that towards motorbikes. However, describing it in this way is unfairly reductive, since falling in love with a mechanical object, although damnably fascinating, is not normally something for intelligent people.
Perhaps the best definition is love for what motorbikes represent or, even better, for what a motorbike can make anyone feel. The motorbike that prompted the author to write this book is his Harley-Davidson, but don't worry: you won't find anything here about American highways, wind in your face and the like.
Because love he refers to is a much more complex feeling, something that hides in the deepest and strangest corners of our soul. An emotion that goes far beyond the make and engine of our motorbike, a feeling that lurks there, long before anything drove us to become a motorcyclist, or at least to try.
A strange and subversive feeling, always ready to jump out and grab us by the throat.
