The doyen of Italian automotive historians - Gianni Cancellieri - is well-known and respected for his writings, which over more than six decades have seen and see the light of day in the pages of volumes, newspapers, magazines and also digital media.
Formerly editor of Autosprint and later of Automondo, in 1977 he became head of the motoring column of the Gazzetta dello Sport and since 1989 of Ruoteclassiche. He has published several books.
Little known, however, is his work as a photographer, since he was entrusted by the magazine Autosprint to document some thirty car races that took place in the 1960s, mainly Formula One Grand Prix and Sport Prototype races.
This publication, the catalogue of a photographic exhibition held in Brescia, presents a selection of more than one hundred images of a racing world that has now disappeared, enriched by a caption that highlights situations and features present in the image that all together combine to describe the competitions of those years.
Within Immagini ritrovate, a series of shots is dedicated to portraits of drivers. Introductions by Giovanna Calvenzi and Giorgio Terruzzi complete the publication.
88 pages, 142 b/w images. Text in Italian.
