This volume by Michael Frostick, is, with other titles by Dalton Watson, a fine example of motoring literature, both in its choice of content and the photographic material used.
Vincenzo Lancia was classically inclined and named his first models with the letters of the Greek alphabet, giving his first car the name Alpha in 1907. Nearly seventy years later, although the brand is now part of Fiat Group, tradition continues and Lancia's 1976 entry is named Gamma.
However, it was the Lambda which brought the company on the road to success, and first introduced the brand to classic car enthusiasts, so this car is well covered in this volume, from the prototype with oval radiator onwards.
The author has carried out extensive research in the Lancia archives, and has selected a wide range of photographs, from the earliest models to those announced at the 1976 Geneva Motor Show, the year in which this volume was published.
There are also photographs that show the art of coachbuilding applied to Lancia chassis, especially those of the 1930s, and images of races, especially rallies, where Lancia achieved countless successes and world championship titles.
