For its 40th anniversary, GMT (Gruppo Modellistico Trentino) wanted to re-propose to historians, modellers and enthusiasts a significantly updated and revised version of the monograph that has been a great success in past years, dedicated to those vehicles used by the special units of the Royal Army, by some formations of the Social Republic and by German troops in the final stages of the Second World War and still little studied today: the AS 42 and AS 43 small trucks.
Designed to provide agile, fast and at the same time powerfully armed support for actions deep behind enemy lines in the Saharan theatre of war, they arrived too late to make a significant contribution in North Africa.
Used after the armistice for public order tasks and close escorting of military columns, they ended their post-war career in the Public Security Force.
In addition to a detailed description of the vehicles, accompanied by factory and in-action photos, the authors also offer a review of the units that used them, from the Saharan Regiment to the X Arditi Regiment, from the Motorised Assault Battalion to the Italian African Police, from the Leonessa Armoured Regiment to the German units that used them after the Armistice, with careful references to the uniforms and the different mimetic liveries adopted in the different periods.
Completing the book is a chapter dedicated to the making of 1/35 scale models, updated with the latest releases on the market, with a description of the different phases of assembly and colouring of the trucks.
The 108-page volume includes more than 130 colour and b/w pictures, 15 completely updated and revamped colour profiles and a 5-view table of technical drawings.
There is also a new, updated modelling section with the creation and presentation of three new models.
