Le Macchine Sport e Prototipo 1923-1982, published in 1982 by Automobilia, edited by Giovanni Lurani, is, in terms of content and intent, a milestone text in motoring literature.

The history of Sports and Prototype Cars is an attractive subject of great interest, but it also represents a problem that is difficult to solve. In fact, so much so that in the boundless international literature of volumes that have analysed and recounted the exciting history of the automobile in all its aspects, there was still a lack of books dedicated to the history of Sports and Prototype Cars.

Automobilia decided to fill this gap and, considering the vastness of the subject and the extreme difficulty of finding documentation and data even for a writer specialising in automotive historiography, organised a team of authentic 'big names' from the Olympus of internationally renowned writers to share the difficult task of writing the history of the Sport and Prototype Cars.

Well-known specialists from Italy, France, England, the United States, Belgium, Spain and Switzerland wrote, each one, the history of Sport and Prototype Cars that directly concerns them, thus taking on the responsibility of telling their country's story in this attractive and interesting field.

In every part of this book, the character of the writer and his nation is reflected in the author's own style; this book retains the freshness of originality and takes the reader back to the real environment in which things and events were born and took place.

Among the 'big names', in addition to the editor of the work, Giovanni Lurani, Christian Moity, Doug Nye, Adriano Cimarosti, Jan P. Norbye, Paul Frère and Adriano Pascucci. Extremely rich the photographic material, from several archives.
