Luigi Cimarosti, 'le Sorcier de Comblain-au-Pont'. A name well known in the world of motor sport, and not only for his innumerable victories at 24 hours of Spa-Francorchamps, 24 hours of Le Mans, the prestigious tracks of Nürburgring, Silverstone or Monza, as well as the European Touring Car Championship won twice.
Above all, Luigi is a clan of people who are loyal and devoted to success, working long hours, and often late into the night in a garage or in the pits of the racetrack. A close-knit team where the adage "never give up" has become a leitmotif, which has earned the respect and admiration of its rivals.
A family united around the leader: his wife Julia took care of the reception and management during the races. His daughters, Liliana and Silvia, were responsible for various key missions. Francisco, the brother in shadows, worked meticulously on the mechanical preparation, not forgetting Jean Xhenceval, his brother-in-law, who was present from the beginning, from time to time wearing the hats of mechanic, tester and driver.
Jovial, sociable, without frills, and however very serious in his work, Luigi was appreciated by all, including the rival teams who joined in the convivial atmosphere of the refreshments around the truck.
Luigi's cars were driven by an impressive number of champions. These included Hans Stuck, Gunnar Nilsson, Bruno Giacomelli, Lella Lombardi and Reine Wisell.
In the Belgian clan, Willy Braillard, Pierre Dieudonné, Claude Dewael or Hugues de Fierlant, to name just a few, achieved their greatest successes with Luigi in an atmosphere of open camaraderie, and of course we cannot forget rally drivers Yves Loubet, Patrick Snijers, Dany Delettre, Gaby Goudezeune or "Chavan", and many others.
It is an extraordinary journey that Eric Faure tells us now, as a journalist who has lived through almost the entire career of Luigi Cimarosti.
The story of a young man who came from Italy to work in the mines of Belgium and who gradually built up a reputation as an exceptional tuner.
