Giuseppe Eugenio Luraghi was a protagonist of the Italian industrial twentieth century. Born in Milan, manager of socialist beliefs, has occupied roles of great responsibility in many important companies (Pirelli, Sip, Iri-Finmeccanica, Lanerossi, Mondadori) but his name remains linked above all to Alfa Romeo and its successes, to its extraordinary models, on the arduous road to build a state car industry capable of competing with powerful private manufacturers and creating development and jobs.
Luraghi has lived dramatic experiences such as the Spanish War and the Second World War, fought solitary battles to modernize a dark and oligarchic capitalism, to defend the autonomy of the company from political interference, and has been a protagonist of culture, capable to elaborate and disseminate the philosophy of technological progress as a tool for the liberation of man. While the name Alfa Romeo evokes a tormented and prestigious past and his fame still travels the roads of the world, Luraghi also appears to us today as a businessman who, with consistency, loyalty and firmness, has contributed to industrial success and rebirth of the country.
