Unveiled for the first time on 11 September 2001 at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the Maserati Spyder, Trident's latest masterpiece, is a central model in the brand's relaunch, and destined to reconquer overseas markets.
As it appears at first glance, the Maserati Spyder shares a clear formal identity with the 3200 GT, due to the successful interpretation of Italdesign-Giugiaro.
In reality, the shift from the sumptuous 2+2 coupé to the open-top version required a profound rethinking of the entire project. The Spyder was thus born with a wheelbase shortened by 220 mm and was configured as an authentic two-seater roadster, compact, gritty, without however renouncing that sober elegance, made up of soft, harmonious lines.
