The 190 was a great commercial success. Despite detractors who predicted that its career would not be brilliant or even fail, the W 201 conquered customers all over the world and became a top model.
The W 201 was popular worldwide, and is one of the most preferred models of the youngtimers' movement. This no-frills Mercedes was designed by some of the German manufacturer's most talented engineers, who gave it the best of their knowledge.
And although not available in station wagon, coupé or cabriolet versions, the 190 received a sporty look, a sphere in which Mercedes was very understated at the time.
