Third volume of the Mercedes-Benz Opera Omnia 1886-2001 Centennial Edition 1st "Mercedes" 1901 (3 Vol.).
Published to mark 100 years since the birth of the marque, this volume contains the history of Mercedes-Benz from 1991 to 2001, and an illustrated catalogue of all the models produced during this period. It completes the previous two (1886-1990), which were published in two editions in 1986 and 1990.
Together they form a true "opera omnia", a monument to a marque that historically must be considered, with few others, a great protagonist in the automobile's history.
This third volume is published for the centenary of the birth of the name "Mercedes". The consul of the Austro-Hungarian Empire in Nice, Emil Jellinek, was also an importer of the solid cars from Stuttgart.
When the extraordinary 35 PS and 12/16 PS were born in 1900-1901, he also asked that the name Mercedes (his daughter's name) be placed on the bonnet. He could never imagine that a hundred years later millions of drivers would proudly pronounce the name of his darling daughter.
