The Vallelunga racetrack, located about forty kilometres north of Rome, in the territory of the municipality of Campagnano, entered the new millennium with a long tradition behind it, starting in 1951, on the first sand track obtained from the pre-existing hippodrome.
Since 1957, with the inauguration of the first asphalt track with the Esso Six Hours race, it has gradually hosted hundreds of races, cars and motorbikes, starting with the Gran Premio Roma, which found its definitive home at Vallelunga.
All the greatest champions of motor racing and motorcycling have passed through Vallelunga over the years, and in some cases have trained there, testifying the technical and sporting validity of the facility.
Vallelunga. Un autodromo per Roma 1951-2000 celebrates the 50 years of this important Italian racetrack, retracing its history and protagonists, with the help of a rich photographic collection, with 600 b/w and 89 colour images.
