The "Circuito del Castello" of Teramo - one of the most important automobile races held in Italy immediately after the war - has contributed significantly to the development of the sport at national level and to the social recovery of a country scarred by the war.

The race, created and organized by the Automobile Club Teramo in eleven editions from 1949 to 1961 (without the two-year period 1957-58), has a common denominator that links the figure of Berardo Taraschi, driver and constructor, to the men of the local Automobile Club, a fellowship already permeated of history and passion since 1924.

With the consent of daring men, all striving for a renewed futuristic impetus and joined by the great passion for motoring, Teramo lived the most beautiful sporting season, in this book reproduced after a long and difficult work of research and elaboration of comparative data, through publications, archival documents and official sources of the A.C. Teramo.

The race, which will be attended by all the greatest riders in the 750cc category and the most important manufacturers in Italy and Europe, is an incredible story of sport and competition, speed and passion, roars of the engine and trajectories closed to a thousandth of a second, all seasoned with a public participation that has had no equal in Abruzzo.

For this race, Teramo and Abruzzo will be known throughout the world: in fact, princes and heirs of the oldest American families will arrive, as well as the great Italian, British and Swiss drivers who will later appear in Formula 1.
