It's an autobiographical tale, the story of a dream come true at last after forty years. The passion of a young boy who, instead of following the lessons in class, fantasizing adventures unthinkable between controsterzi and exhaust noises, turning the innocent bank (in two places) to school by car racing, rally indeed, to the first, then the second, the third, the fourth time on the stage of starting the dream never faded, materialized at that age where people think quite normal to future grandchildren instead of remaining anchored to teenage passions.
FROM THE CLASSROOM TO TURINI is the story of this fascinating emotional transport, built brick by brick, indeed rally rally, until the materialization four decades later in "rally" by definition.
Rallye Monte-Carlo, as it was in the seventies and fabulous as it was transferred the spirit in its historical reconstruction, with the endless stage of concentration, the long special stages of the stages of classification and the common path and the magical "night the Turini ", pervaded by weather more unpredictable than ever, followed by thousands of spectators regardless of the cold and the snow, is the elite of motor road, is the charm of the rally in its essence. And 'normal, so, they conquer the imagination and the hearts of fans and, in particular, of that little boy, grew over the years only to the registrar.
The book, 144 pages divided into 14 chapters -sorry, 14 "special stages" - with 230 color photographs and 22 illustrations and maps of the route, it begins with what could be called the dawn of passion, the dream state pure of a teenager who lives motivated fantasies and aspirations. It continues with a kind of apprenticeship in the world of car racing, race after race, with results that often lead to great satisfaction, but could never achieve the "dream". And 'only after graduation, after several hundred races on road and track, when the dream seems now permanently placed in the drawer of unfulfilled desires, that rises suddenly, unexpectedly, the chance of a race of life: and then it is as if it were again the first time, then clicks the second time, then likes it and follows a third and a fourth time, and who knows how many more there will be. Here develops the most technical part of the book, a sort of guided tour for those who want to really know what it is and how you deal with the "Monte" history: the story of how to make the race, the equipment and the necessary equipment, the preparation of the car, the organization of care, the importance of tire and finally signs the record of real life, pardon, rally lived.
All told with a fast-paced, addictive, in a crescendo that makes you really want to prepare the car and to live it yourself adventure that immediately seems like magic, written with the right seasoning of irony that lightens reading even those technical and expert in the field is not.
