On the 8th of September, 1921, Bugatti became a legend after the extraordinary performance at the Brescia Grand Prix for voiturettes where his cars took the first four places.

On the 3rd of August, 1924, the new 8-cylinder chassis, the type 35, began its competitive cereer at the ACF Grand Prix at Lyon. Within only a few years, this model established itself as one of the most mythic cars of all time.

Between these two dates, the firm from Alsace spent a number of very intense years with the presentation and production of its first 8-cylinder chassis (types 28 and 30), its first participation in Grand Prix racing, firstly at Strasbourg in 1922 and at Tours the following year, in addition to new studies (types 33 and 34), all models that would influence future productions of the marque during the years to come.

De la légende au mythe 1921-1924, illustrated by more than 350 photographs, over 50 factory original and previosly unpublished drawings and more than ten patents, retraces in over 400 pages, the history and technical features of these cars which took Bugatti into a new era, which was far less artisanal than the firm’s beginnings, even though Bugatti factory production remained marginal when compared to other French automobile manufacturers.

Containing anecdotes, explanations and precisions, racing and technical information, travel through four of the most important years that marked the development and history of one of the most emblematic of all automobile marques.
