Ferrari has today become a "myth", one of the few contemporary myths that are unanimously recognised all over the world.

The birth of this myth, the hesitant and difficult steps of the early years of Ferrari are told, with precision and serenity, in this book by Gioachino Colombo, the young technician to whom Ferrari entrusted the task of realising his dream as a manufacturer.

The brief period Gioachino Colombo spent at Ferrari was just one episode in his long and fortunate career as a designer of Grand Prix cars: before Ferrari, he had designed the famous Alfetta and, after Ferrari, he would design the last Bugatti and Maserati with which Fangio won a World Championship.

However, it is his twelve-cylinder engine, designed adventurously for Ferrari in the bedroom of his Milanese home, that will secure Colombo a leading place in automotive history.

Le origini del mito. Le memorie del progettista delle prime Ferrari is edited by Valerio Moretti, one of Italy's most prominent automotive historians, and features an introduction by Enzo Ferrari himself.
