Mauro Prampolini. L'Arte della meccanica, con Ferrari e Bizzarrini tells the biographical story of Mauro Prampolini, mechanical craftsman, protagonist alongside Enzo Ferrari and Giotto Bizzarrini of the golden age of Italian motoring.

Leading the reader through this extraordinary adventure of all-Italian genius is Marco Genovesi, an entrepreneur in the automotive and vintage car restoration sector, and collector, who inherited Prampolini's love for engines and respect for tradition.

Mauro Prampolini's passion for cars began early on, when he was a little boy, dragging his broken sandals on his toes on the hot asphalt he used to take out of the middle of the crossroads, he would lurk by the side of the road, at the end of the straight between Maranello and Formigine, to watch the Prancing Horse prototypes go by.

He was then employed in the Reparto Esperienze Ferrari, directed by engineer Giotto Bizzarrini, his teacher and mentor. Together they built the legendary ‘Papera’, a name invented by the mechanics in the workshop because the car was taking on a shape resembling that of a monstrous duck with an elongated neck and wings folded along its sides, from which the Ferrari GTO was born, one of the most important cars in the creation of the Maranello legend.

Later, Prampolini followed Bizzarrini in his mechanical workshop in Livorno and together they wrote fundamental pages of automotive history. They created the Iso Grifo A3, the Asa 1000 and Ferrari Breadvan racing prototypes, the twelve-cylinder Lamborghini engine and the Bizzarrini 5300 GT, one of the most loved and desired sports cars of the 1960s. A life of racing, alongside drivers like Manuel Fangio, Stirling Moss, Willy Mairesse and many others.
